waiting to hear back from colleges is KILLING ME. december 15/21 CANNOT come soon enough.

i just want colleges to call me up and be like, "hey. here's a girl who tries really hard even though she doesn't always get all A's, especially not in math because mostly all math teachers are completely incompetent, and who likes math anyway, but she does the best she can and she loves traveling with unquenchable spirit and wants to make the world a better place and is well rounded and not a complete asshole or fuck up or idiot or troublemaker. and all she wants is to get into a school where she can meet new people and learn some stuff and have fun. so let's ask her if she wants to come to our school."

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms or books that are written in a foreign tongue. The point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, witout noticing it, live your way some distant day into the answers. Eventually, all the pieces fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment, and know that everything happens for a reason.

hello hello!
i can't believe july is almost over already. i feel in so many ways like summer just started, but on the other hand i've had a really full and great one so far.
DC with hannah was all i had hoped for and more, with lots of dancing in the car and tanning and partying on rooftops and shopping and laughing at dumb things and things that i had really missed all year. i had felt so pent up and pressured junior year and to finally be able to just relax and blow off some steam felt really, really good.
during my "decompression week" at home i found a new all-consuming obsession: the office. those of you who've seen it will understand when i say that it is truly hysterical in a way most shows can't even hope to be these days. season 3 is now on my ipod and will be watched in its entirety before season 4 begins in the fall.
then, of course, guatemala. guatemala was so many things i can't even put into words, such a different trip than my last one. i ended up staying two weeks instead of one because matt was sick and couldn't go :( but was so glad i was given the opportunity to do so. i am still having dreams about esvin and daniel and all of my other niños in prepa A. both groups were hilarious fun in their own special ways, and i loved both equally. i have found yet another latin american country i wouldn't mind spending lot more time in.
and finally, something i hadn't gotten to have in two years, CLAM FESTIVAL. this year was one for the books, with such great weather and friends and laughs and moments and parties and sunsets and secret looks. it is one of the only times when i really do love yarmouth, maine.
this week, believe it or not, i have been working on my college applications, getting a headstart for michigan and northwestern, and the fact that i am actually at this point in my life is both scary and relieving (sp?)
i leave for spain with my family on saturday, which i am very excited about. i would be a lot happier if robbie's passport had arrived, but ojala que llegue muy pronto (hopefully it arrives soon).
thinking about this time last year makes me both sad and happy, definitely inducing that familiar feeling of euphorancholy-ness. july 29 will arrive soon, a day for the books, indeed. i certainly miss you, IJ.
mostly, summer has been full of laughs and late nights and spanish and secret smiles and getting borracha and harry potter and jean shorts and pictures and friends and hot sweaty runs and tank tops and popsicles and tea and hammocks and the ski team booth's onion rings and air conditioning and flip flops.
i am anxious to see what august will bring.

things i have learned this year:
-some people change completely, and some people stay exactly the same. in my experience, neither were good things.
-i want to go to the university of michigan
-i am completely incapable of not spending money if i have it
-if it weren't for hannah kahn, i'd probably die
-i will probably always slip into heavily-accented chilean spanish after a few drinks
-so much of nordic skiing really is in your head
-the SAT's really aren't that scary
-if there's no chemistry, there's no point
-sometimes people are just mean for no reason, don't let it get to you
-chile is my home.
-the future, conditional and subjunctive tenses in french
-all music is better in spanish (as are many things)
-communication is key.
only 2 more days of school, then finals. then HANNAH, guatemala, clam fest, college apps, running with jules, and spain. i can tell summer '07 is going to be an adventure :)

i have that feeling again where everything is in place and going well and as it should be and by all means i should be happy and clear-minded and not at all confused and yet somehow something is just slightly off-- off enough that it makes me stop and question all that i have going on right now.
some people are not who i thought they would be, others are exactly who i knew they were even if i had for a moment tricked myself into thinking they had changed, situations have unfolded in unexpected ways, things i thought i'd gotten past have resurfaced, huge milestones have passed with seemingly no recognition. time is flying by yet creeping along at the same time.
right now i need a double shot of summmmmmer which means hannah kahn & washington DC, guatemala, clam fest, spain, running with jules, working, staying up late and waking up early, the lake, the ocean, music blasting out of open car windows, the smell of sunscreen & sand, sunglasses, new bikinis, barefoot excursions, the feeling of limitless possibilites when you wake up, tan faces with no make up, late night streets, lush grass, sundresses & flip flops, crickets chirping at night, but most of all

AMAZING weekend!
no school on friday, which was lovely x10 because i FINALLY cleaned my room, went to Freeport, got lunch at Clayton's and basically spent the whole 60 degree day outside in the sun,which I absolutely loved. Also, my dresses from Forever 21 came, I purchased a glorious $5 pair of black spandex bike shorts from wal mart and a gray polka dot tank top from Gap. All in all, a successful day!
Plus, we got spray paint and hats at wal mart and robbie made me a badass safron yellow baseball hat which i wore backwards over a braid all weekend.
then went up to the beautiful RANGELEY and decided i was bored of skiing after about three runs, so i borrowed my Mom's stuff and went SNOWBOARDING!Which is soooo amazingly fun and I've decided next year I'm going to split my time between snowboarding and alpine skiing.
the weather was absolutely perfect and I wore under armor and a t-shirt the entire time, and my face is now sunburned/tan. woo!
last skiing day of the season today, snowboarded in the morning and did a BLUE RUN! and then skiied in the afternoon, took one last glorious run down Bronco to end the season in a great way.
ALSO, i bought KEANE tickets for the Merill in May, which i am BEYOND excited about. Greece in 18 days. Lacrosse try outs start tomorrow. I need cleats, a mouth guard and the ability to not be so nervous about coming back after a year away from the sport.

you know what i hate? when there's lyrics to a song that you REALLY like, but the song is sung by a group/singer of the opposite gender, therefore the lyrics (in my case) reference a girl. so it kind of makes it awakward. for example, these:
